Vegetable Seeds from Sow Seeds Ltd
Lettuce Webbs Wonderful is an old favourite with gardeners as it is consistently a reliable performer.
It is an 'Iceberg' (crisphead) type that has a large head with frilly edged leaves and a crisp tight centre. Lettuce Webbs Wonderful is very slow to bolt and so makes an excellent performer for hot or dry summers. It is ready to crop in approximately 80 days.
Lettuce Webbs Wonderful Vegetable Seed Information
|Seed Quantity:||Approx 900 seeds per pack.|
Prefers well-drained, moist, rich soil.
|When to Sow||Indoors: February to March Outdoors: April to July|
|How to Sow:||Indoors - sow in modules/seed trays 6mm deep. Prick out & pot on into small pots when large enough to handle. When 5-6 leaves have grown transplant outside (after a period of 'hardening off'). Space plants every 30cm in rows 30cm apart. Protect with cloche in cold periods. Outdoors - Sow seeds thinly direct in a pre-watered drills 6mm deep with 30cm between rows. Gradually thin seedlings to one every 30cm when large enough. Give added cloche protection in cold periods until the risk of frost has passed. For continuous supply sow every 3 weeks.|
Keep well-watered particularly in dry periods. Try to water in the morning or mid-day as watering in the evening will increase the risk of disease. Keep weed free.
|Harvest:||80 days from sowing when the head feels firm when gently pressed.|
