Chilli Seeds from Sow Seeds Ltd
Poblano (Ancho) chilli peppers originate from Puebla, Mexico and is one of the most popular chillies used in many Mexican recipes and is the main ingredient in Mole sauce.
Poblano chillies are heart shaped dark green almost purple pods that measure 7.5 - 12cm long by 7.5cm wide. They have a mild heat of between 1,000-2,000 SHU. Fresh Poblano chillies mature to a dark red nearly black colour and are left to dry and they are then called Ancho.
The pods are used just as frequently dried as fresh and they heat levels increases as the chillies mature. 'Ancho' means wide in Spanish and refers to its flat broad shape when dried. The Plant grows to about 70cm tall and is well branched, it may require support as the peppers grow large and heavy.
