Well what can we say about this pepper, other than surprise the Mother-in-Law with your new addition to your chilli collection!! It's also known as 'Chilli Willy' or 'Peter Penis' and there in lies a better description of why this pod is so rib-ticklingly funny and it will certainly be a talking point with friends and cause a stir in chilli eating competitions!

Peter Pepper's red, shiny pods dangle downwards and are 6-9cm long by 2.5cm wide, although we're sure many of you will think they have considerably larger ones!!! Each bushy plant reaches about 60cm tall by 50cm wide and produces generous amounts of rude shaped chillies.

Peter Pepper chillies have a bell ringing, mild to medium heat level of between 10,000-23,000 SHU and although worth growing just for the novelty value are really good to eat with a spicy flavour. Their thick-walled fleshy pods are great fresh, frozen or dried to make chilli flakes or powder.

The Peter Pepper can be traced back to Eastern Tennesse, America in the 1700's where the Alfrey family found a mutant pepper on a plant and through centuries of successive breeding it is been commercially discovered and is now one of the most talked about peppers.

Anyone with a naughty sense of humour and passion for chillies should try growing these risque little beauties!!!
