Chilli Seeds from Sow Seeds Ltd
Cayenne Golden chillies are part of the Cayenne family but have lovely bright shiny yellow pods rather than the traditional Cayenne red ones. Cayenne Golden produces creamy yellow flowers, followed by shiny, smooth dark green skinned pods that mature to bright yellow.
They measure about 12cm long by 1.5cm wide tapering to a narrow point. The plants are sturdy and well-branched reaching about 70-80cm tall however they can become top heavy when laden with fruit so may need a little extra support.
Cayenne Golden chillies have a fruity/citrus flavour with a medium to hot Scoville Heat Unit rating of between 30-000 -50,000. They are excellent used fresh & the yellow flesh looks very appealing in stir-fries. They can be pickled, frozen or dried and used like the traditional red cayenne pepper (paprika). The dried peppers also make a colourful ristas.
