Cut Flower Seeds from Sow Seeds Ltd
An easy to grow hardy annual that produces very dark rich purple (almost black) flowers with silvery foliage. Cornflower Black Ball looks stunning in the garden sown in clumps especially when set against light green foliage or dark plum foliage like Sambucus or Heucheras.
Cornflowers are a cottage garden favourite and also loved by Prairie Style Garden Designers.
As a hardy annual it will flower the same year from spring sowings but can also be sown in Autumn, it will germinate to produce small plants that will overwinter and flower late spring to early summer. It does get top heavy so will require staking but it flowers over & over again and is an excellent 'cut & come' again variety that is loved by bees & butterflies etc.
Cornflower Black Ball flowers will last 5-7 days in vase and is suitable for a country cottage style or for contemporary arrangements as the deep plum colour looks stunning with whites, pinks, oranges, yellow or red. A versatile & giving plant!
