Tomato 'Super Marmande' Seeds

Overview

Tomato 'Super Marmande' is the taste of Provencal. The tomatoes have a very rich, sweet flavour with firm flesh and contain very few seeds. They are continental beefsteak types that have large irregular shaped fruits that weigh between 160-180g.

'Super Marmande' produces an early crop on semi-bush type plants that are best grown outside. They will need some support with canes as they are quite vigorous plants but will not need pruning or pinching out as they once they reach their pre-determined height they will stop growing.

They are perfect for salads, sandwiches and cooking.

Site conditions	Sunny, fertile but sheltered spot.
How to sow	Sow seeds thinly in seed trays of seed & potting compost or 2-3 seeds in small pots and cover lightly with a little compost. Firm compost gently and water carefully. Keep in heated greenhouse / propagator at about 15-20°C. Transplant into larger individual pots when 10cm tall. 'Harden off' plants for 3-4 days before finally planting them outside from May to June. It is best to plant deeply to a depth of 0.5cm below the seed leaves - this helps to give a nice sturdy plant. Space 60-90cm between each plant.
Care	Keep protected if frost is forecast with a fleece or a cloche. They require daily watering and feeding with a high potassium, tomato fertiliser once a week when the fruit has begun to set. The 'Super marmande' is a semi-bush plant that will require some staking and support as it produces a heavy crop of tomatoes. As a semi-bush variety it will not require 'pinching out'.
