Lettuce 'Winter Density' Seeds

Overview

Lettuce 'Winter density' is a compact cos variety. It has dark green hearts with crisps leaves with a very sweet flavour.

It has excellent winter hardiness, and should be sown outside in September to crop the following March to April. It is also suitable for sowing March to July for summer crops.

Site conditions	Prefers well-drained, moist rich soil.
How to sow	Sow thinly 1.5cm deep in rows 25cm apart in a prepared seedbed and lightly cover with fine soil. Seedlings appear in 7-14 days. Thin to about 15cm apart when large enough. Water in carefully. For a continuous crop sow every 2-3 weeks. (Sowings may benefit from cloche or fleece protection and they might benefit from sowing inside in very cold spells and transplanting seedlings outside and then fleecing).
Care	In spring/summer keep moist especially during dry weather, weed free and protect early sowings with a cloche. Always water in the morning or mid-day as watering in the evening will increase the risk of disease. Watering not as necessary in Winter.
Harvest	Autumn sowings - March to April. Spring to Summer - May to July.
