Sowing months January, February, March, April
Site conditions Sunny, well-drained.
How to sow Indoors: January - March. Sprinkle seeds on seed tray filled with compost and cover with 1cm deep fine compost. Water well. When large enough to handle plant onion seedlings outside in a well prepared bed, 5-10cm apart if small onions required or 15-25cm for larger ones. Can also be grown on in a polytunnel or greenhouse and they will crop slightly earlier but will require regularly watering to prevent bolting.

Outdoors: Mid February - Mid April. Sow seed direct thinly into 1cm deep drills, in rows 15cm apart. Thin seedlings to size of final onion required - for small onions allow 5-10cm for larger ones allow 15-25cm.
Care Keep weed free and well watered.
