Overview

Cornflower Black Ball is an easy to grow hardy annual that produces very dark rich crimson flowers. The flowers are about 60-75cm tall & held on a strong straight stem - perfect for cutting & also drying. They last 5-7 days in vase.

Cornflower Black Ball looks stunning in the garden sown in clumps especially when set against light green foliage. It’s a cottage garden favourite and also loved by Prairie Style Garden Designers.

Autumn sown seed will germinate to produce small plants that will overwinter and flower late spring to early summer. Spring sowings will flower the same year.

Site conditions	Sunny, particularly likes sandy soil/not too fertile soil.
How to sow	Sow direct (Mar-May or Aug-Sept) into a well-prepared moist seedbed either into a drill 1cm deep or broadcast seed thinly into area & gently rake in. Thin out weaker seedlings to leave a plant every 30cm.
Care	Keep weed free particularly when seedlings.
